8:00pm – Prayer meeting for the church

Beyond the practical support, if you are in the midst of difficulty or grief we simply want to be a caring Christian community where pain can be expressed, comfort found and questions asked.

Our Pastors can help practically in the funeral. It is our belief that a funeral must be authentic, personal and full of meaning for the family concerned and we will do all we can to ensure this happens. A funeral is incredibly hard, but it is an important step in marking the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend the person into God's keeping.

After the funeral

People who have lost someone close to them are often so busy with practical details and arrangements between the death and the funeral that they do not experience the full sense of their loss until later.

Grieving is a natural and important part of coming to terms with and healing this loss and it may continue for several months and years. Our Pastors and community is here to help, if needed. One often finds it is those who have suffered a close bereavement themselves, Pastors or lay people, who can most easily offer comfort and support to those who mourn.

"I vividly remember the day my Dad died unexpectedly. It was shortly before my 19th birthday. I remember the crushing pain and the sense of shock. But I also clearly remember the incredible comfort and practical support shown by my Christian friends and church. They didn't offer trite words - they offered presence; their friendship and support which ministered to me deeply. If PBC can help you in this way, or if I can help you in any way, we'd be delighted to. Although its your journey, you don't have to travel through grief on your own." - Pastor Wayne Alexander

For the Christian, comfort can be found in the promises of Jesus Christ, in the hope of the Resurrection and in the belief that the beloved person is safe in the hands of God. If you'd like to explore these beliefs more, please e-mail our Pastor,

Please call the church office on 01892 825590 and we will do all we can to help you.
